rejection parameters

CHALLENGE: When real-time analysis software is connected to freely moving animals (unrestrained plethysmography, telemetry...), a lot of data are generated, not all of which are usable. It would be useful to automatically reject data associated with certain animal behaviors. The original request was to minimise the amount of "sniffing" data lying among normal breating data generated during unrestrained plethysmography studies.

SOLUTION: In addition to standard rejection criteria based on signal shape and amplitude, we added a second level of rejection based on derived parameters. In the specific example, a breath was considered a sniff, and hence rejected, if the frequency was higher than a predefined threshold range.

RESULTS: This rejection criterion is now available in all versions of iox2 and for all applications.
